Human Resources Generalist

Human Resource Generalist

SUMMARY:

The position is responsible for divisional recruitment, benefit administration; compensation; employee relations; compliance with federal, state and local employment law and regulations; payroll processing and labor reporting, training; and other related functions. Develops, plans and implements policies relating to all phases of human resources activity by performing the following duties personally or through management staff and in coordination with overall corporate policies and initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate HR policies, procedures, and programs to support organizational objectives
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, employment standards, benefits, and workplace practices
  • Administer employee relations matters, including staff consultations, conflict resolution, and grievance procedures
  • Support full-cycle recruitment including job postings, screening, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding
  • Coordinate and administer employee performance management processes, including performance reviews and coaching support
  • Manage employee training and development initiatives to enhance workforce capability
  • Oversee payroll coordination and administration of employee benefits and employment equity programs
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, labour standards, health and safety regulations, and internal policies
  • Maintain and analyze employee data and HR metrics to support workforce planning and reporting
  • Respond to employee inquiries and workplace concerns in a timely and professional manner
  • Assist in developing internal HR communication strategies and preparing management reports
  • Participate in HR projects related to compensation, employee engagement, and organizational development
  • Recommend and implement improvements to HR systems, processes, and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related discipline.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Human Resources, Management, or Organizational Development (strongly preferred).

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience with end-to-end expertise across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and HR policy development to support business growth and operational excellence.
  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and compliance requirements, including employment standards, human rights, and occupational health and safety regulations, ensuring risk mitigation and organizational compliance.
  • Proven experience leveraging HRIS, payroll platforms, and workforce analytics to streamline HR operations, improve reporting accuracy, and support informed business decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and complex employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, terminations, and conflict resolution, with a practical, business-focused approach.
  • Strong background in payroll administration, benefits coordination, statutory deductions, and regulatory reporting to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and cost control.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, enabling productive relationships with employees, leaders, vendors, and external partners.
  • Proven ability to lead interviews, facilitate management meetings, and deliver practical, business-oriented training and presentations.
  • Recognized professional credentials, including CHRP, SHRM-CP, or equivalent qualifications, demonstrating commitment to continuous professional development and best practices.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CHRP or CHRL certification is desirable.

Salary Range: $41.50 CAD per hour
